Self-sufficient, climate-friendly and future-oriented – Our commitment to energy
In many rural regions of Africa, a stable electricity supply cannot be taken for granted. Numerous communities are not connected to the power grid at all, and where electricity is available, outages lasting several hours or even days are common.
For our health center, a reliable energy supply is essential. Two years ago, we were therefore able to successfully commission our own 16 kW transformer.
Just two weeks ago, a new solar power system was installed at the health center in Bafia – an important step toward a more reliable and sustainable electricity supply.
The background is that the previous solar installation failed about two years ago after a medical device with a very high power demand was connected, exceeding the system’s designed capacity.
Since then, the situation has been challenging. Frequent interruptions in the regional power grid often meant that even basic necessities such as lighting could not always be guaranteed at the hospital.
The new solar system has therefore been designed to cover the essential energy needs first and provide a stable foundation for daily operations.
At the same time, it is intended as a long-term solution: the system can be expanded step by step to increase capacity and further improve the reliability of the power supply.
This project demonstrates how important sustainable and well-planned infrastructure is – especially in places where it is needed most.
