Village des Allemands
Welcome to Bafia - your home during your commitment
Here we offer you safe and friendly accommodation with meals - free of charge for all those who complete a voluntary social year or support us as a specialist.
Our aim is to create a home away from home that enables community, exchange and relaxation.
Whether for a few months or a whole year - you are very welcome in our village!
Our programme is aimed at all culturally interested people who have a desire for social commitment.
Applicants should be aware that Deutsche Kamerun-Hilfe e.V. is a non-governmental organisation (NGO), which does not operate for profit and whose proceeds flow entirely into the individual aid projects.
In the case of a stay of 3 months or more (=voluntary social service), we take care of simple accommodation with water and electricity, as well as catering. The costs for travelling there and back are to be borne by you.
If you would like to enrich your holiday with a variety of experiences and the good feeling of having "helped", we would be delighted if you would accompany a project of your choice for 2-3 weeks.

Stay on site
We are happy about every social commitment!
Enrich your (Cameroon) holiday with experiences that simply do you good! Come to our training centre in Yaoundé for 2-3 weeks and pass on your knowledge to our students. We build on the positive image of Germany that prevails in Cameroon:
"Educated, modern, punctual and rich" - this is how Germans are seen by the people of Cameroon. The German colonial period (1884-1916) in particular contributed to this image; traces of this period can still be found throughout Cameroon, as the Germans built impressive buildings, roads and railways. The favourable impression of Germany contributes to the fact that an astonishing number of people want to learn German. Many young people want to study and work in Germany like we do.
If you would enjoy passing on some of your experience and knowledge to young people, be it theoretical or practical, please get in touch with us. There is definitely a way to realise your wish.

The origin
The idea for our helpers' village arose from a very practical necessity: committed helpers from abroad, especially from Germany, kept coming to Cameroon to support our projects - but there was no suitable accommodation.
One formative moment was the visit of over 50 students from Humboldt University in Berlin. At that time, there was no accommodation available in our neighbourhood, which clearly showed us how important it is to have our own place to meet and exchange ideas.
This idea gave rise to the vision of our own village for our partners, guests and volunteers
What it looks like today
Today, the helpers' village consists of several simple but functional accommodations, sanitary facilities and gardens for self-sufficiency. It offers space for international exchange, intercultural learning and working together on site.
This project would not have been possible without the active support of numerous friends from Germany - which is why the village bears its name: "Village des Allemands" - the "Village of the Germans".
It is an expression of the close ties and genuine partnership between Cameroon and Germany
